Contechs is advancing the shift toward sustainable vehicle design by adapting how modern Body-in-White (BIW) structures are engineered.
Using a “right material, right place” philosophy, we’re able to reduce vehicle weight, cut emissions, and minimise material waste. Our engineers leverage recycled aluminium and steel across stampings, extrusions, castings, and forgings - dramatically lowering the need for virgin materials while improving lifecycle efficiency.
We apply lightweighting strategies that integrate high-strength steels, aluminium alloys, and composites to optimise structural performance without compromising on safety or durability. And by embracing advanced joining methods and energy-efficient welding technologies, we also ensure that our BIW solutions are leaner to manufacture and easier to recycle.
In parallel, we implement closed-loop recycling processes to reintroduce offcuts and scrap back into production — reducing waste and supporting circular manufacturing systems.
“At Contechs, we’re focused on using materials more intelligently, not just to reduce weight and cost, but to actively support more sustainable, future-ready vehicle programmes,” said Paul Card, Body, Chassis and Exterior Trim Director. “Whether we’re developing new platforms or refining existing ones through cost optimisation and VAVE, our approach is always geared towards greener, more efficient automotive solutions.”
