Contechs is delighted to announce the winners of the 2025 Contechs Design Award. Held last Thursday in the inspiring Delia Derbyshire Building at Coventry University, the event brought together final-year Transport Design students, each presenting their capstone projects to an expert judging panel: Marc Brumpton (Contechs), Carsten Astheimer (Astheimer Design), and Henry Morshead (Hill Helicopters).
1st Place: Charlie Berrisford
Charlie claimed first place with his visionary ‘Future Logistics’ concept, a 2045 last-mile heavy-goods vehicle (HGV). While visually striking, Charlie’s HGV also tackled real-world delivery challenges with practical solutions such as rear-wheel steering for improved urban manoeuvrability and a trailer equipped with sliding plates for faster unloading. The judges praised his innovative design thinking, high-quality modelling, and compelling visualisation – securing him the top prize.

2nd Place: Ben Kenward
Ben took second place with ‘Alliq’, an all-terrain vehicle tailored to Inuit culture and nomadic living. Designed to transport battery cells from geothermal stations to cities, the 2050 concept features a unique modular wheel design capable of traversing harsh terrain. His comprehensive design development and professional-grade 3D animation captivated the judges and earned him a well-deserved second place.

3rd Place: Moon Sung Min
Sung Min secured third place with ‘Novissima’, an autonomous memorial vehicle. Powered by an electric motor, the design reimagines a traditional hearse, offering a smaller footprint and enhanced manoeuvrability. Sung Min’s thoughtful approach to a niche vehicle type, alongside strong progression from sketch to CAD model, earned him high praise and a close third place.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Charlie, Ben, and Sung Min on their well-earned awards. We’d also like to commend all participating students for their outstanding work, creativity, and commitment. Each project reflected the passion and innovation that define the next generation of automotive design talent.
The Contechs Design Award will return in 2026 to continue recognising future design leaders within the automotive and transportation sectors.
