NIO, a leading Chinese EV maker, has rolled out a 900V electric drive system (EDS) which can add over 150 miles of range with a five-minute fast charge.
The “Thunder” system is considered the first mass produced 900V system in the world; an innovative milestone in bridging the gap to the speed at which conventional combustion cars can be refuelled.
NIO’s ET9 EV will be the first to feature this new technology. The premium model is set to rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-Benz EQS, with deliveries expected to begin in Q1 of 2025.
