Contechs is recruiting on behalf of our highly reputable global truck OEM in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Product Development Project Manager to join the Special Vehicles Engineering Team. This is a critical leadership role supporting low-volume, customized product solutions across heavy-duty truck platforms, including defense, e-mobility, and next-generation transport technologies.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative and strategic projects from early concept to full industrialization.

Description of the assignment

As a Lead Product Development Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing complex, cross-functional projects within the Special Vehicles Engineering team, focused on delivering customized and low-volume solutions across the heavy-duty truck product range.

You will lead the full project lifecycle-from early concept through industrialization-ensuring alignment across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and brand functions. This role includes managing stakeholder expectations, driving technical and operational execution, and ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards.

You will play a key part in pioneering innovative technologies including e-mobility, automation, alternative fuels, and defense applications. Your ability to coordinate across technical domains and engage in direct dialogue with customers will be essential for success.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and customer teams to ensure project alignment
Deliver on customer-specific vehicle solutions including demo trucks, military applications, and future transport tech
Act as the main point of contact for internal governance and external stakeholders
Ensure timely execution while maintaining budget, technical quality, and product integrity
Facilitate risk management, issue resolution, and ongoing project reporting
Contribute to the development of best practices and continuous improvement across project management processes

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering, Product Development, or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience managing product development in the automotive or transportation industry
Proven track record delivering complex projects involving both hardware and software components
Broad technical understanding across multiple domains (chassis, electrical, cab, SW/HW integration)
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience in military/defense vehicle development and tender processes is highly desirable
PMP certification or equivalent is a strong advantage
Fluent in English (written and verbal)
