Contechs are recruiting on behalf of their high profile client in the Food industry who are currently looking to recruit a Microbiologist to work at their busy site in Bournville and to join their expanding team on a 6 month contract.

Job Description

As a Microbiologist, your main responsibilities are:

• Carry out routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, WIP, and finished product to the agreed specifications and sampling rates.
• Carry out duties with the highest regard for Health & Safety and contribute to the overall H&S culture within BV QA laboratory.
• Implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Sampling Programme (to include sampling and data analysis)
• Basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Preparation of samples for analysis and the associated testing matrices (eg media preparation).

Qualifications / Skills needed

• Educated to degree level or HND/HNC level in a microbiology related field.
• Practical experience within a microbiology lab environment.
• Practical knowledge of microbiological test methods and apparatus with a demonstrated ability to use your knowledge to positively affect laboratory activities.
• Auditing knowledge preferred.
• A good understanding of GLP principles.
