Job description

Position Title: Junior Clay Modeller

Duration: Contract

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

We are seeking a motivated Junior Clay Modeler to support automotive design programs through the development of high-quality physical models. This is an entry-level role suited for someone eager to learn, develop strong craftsmanship, and grow within a professional design studio environment.

The Junior Clay Modeler assists in the creation and refinement of interior and exterior clay models. Responsibilities include clay preparation, basic surface development, and supporting preparation for CNC milling and finishing processes. Working from digital data, sketches, and design direction, the role contributes to the digital-to-physical workflow by assisting with tasks such as 3D scanning, model setup, and armature development under the guidance of experienced modelers.

Working closely with designers, digital modelers, and studio engineers, the Junior Clay Modeler contributes to maintaining clay models used in design reviews, helping ensure they accurately represent design intent.

The role requires good manual skills, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship, along with a strong work ethic and a proactive learning mindset. The ideal candidate is collaborative, receptive to feedback, and motivated to develop advanced clay modeling techniques while supporting the team.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Initial professional experience or relevant training in clay modeling within automotive or industrial design environments.
  • Basic knowledge of interior and exterior clay modeling techniques and studio model development processes.
  • Familiarity with digital-to-physical workflows and an understanding of how digital data supports physical model creation.
  • Ability to support preparation of clay models for scanning, CNC milling, and finishing activities under guidance from experienced modelers.
  • Understanding of collaborative studio environments and willingness to work closely with designers, CAS modelers, and engineers.
  • Good manual skills, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Personal attributes

  • Eager to learn and develop clay modeling skills under the guidance of more experienced modelers.
  • Collaborative and supportive, working effectively within multidisciplinary design, engineering, and CAS teams.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented, willing to take on tasks and contribute to team goals in fast-paced, iterative environments.
  • Detail-focused and quality-conscious, with a commitment to improving personal craftsmanship.
  • Ability to receive feedback constructively and continuously improve.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Proficient in English.
