Position Title: Body Exterior Designer

Duration: Contract

Location: Remote Working

Essential Criteria:

• 5+ years of automotive Catia V5 design experience
• Experience in either Composite body panels, Exterior plastic moulding, Bumper systems, Grilles & Meshes
• Design and Release of Body systems
• A positive, proactive and flexible mindset
• Basic mechanical, material and production knowledge.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to Have Criteria:

• Manufacturing experience desirable
• Plastic Injection Moulding experience
• Good understanding of GD&T
• Robust, proven feasibility assessment skills within APQP framework including DFMEA, DFA/DFM, DVP, component planning and PPAP
• Experience in lightweight body design and materials technology including plastics, and ideally carbon fibre.
• CAD knowledge for assembly and part interrogation.

Additional Information:

• CAD design and engineering of Body exterior panel systems
• Support cost and weight targets throughout the design process.
• Schedule design activities to meet engineering deliverables
• Support styling engagement to ensure delivery of feasible design solutions with regard to manufacturing, assembly and homologation
• Coordinate with Principal Engineers and Project Managers to ensure technical targets, program timings and budgetary requirements are met
• Liaise with the Prototype Workshop to provide feasible design solutions
• Support workshop activities pre, during and post-vehicle build
• Ensure designs meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements, and are formally verified to meet these and other specifications
• Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement
