Tesla implementing Gigacasting manufacturing process

posted over 1 year ago

Tesla is pushing the boundaries of automotive manufacturing by using the innovative Giga-casting process. This process uses aluminum castings for large sections of the car, which are usually constructed with many smaller parts. Tesla aims to extend this approach to casting the entire underbody of its electric vehicles, instead of using the traditional 400 parts, aligning with Elon Musk's 'unboxed' manufacturing strategy.

In addition to Gigacasting, Tesla is incorporating 3D printing to streamline the production process and reduce costs. There are rumours of Tesla developing a new small car using a one-piece casting process.

Contechs is currently supporting a range of OEM clients with body, chassis, and advanced manufacturing services as they provide the vehicles of tomorrow.
