Position Title: Virtual Series CAD Lead

Duration: 5 Month Rolling Contract

Location: Gaydon

Division: Engineering Operations

Position Description:

  • The Virtual Series team within Digital Engineering is responsible for providing a quality output of CAD to various customers to enable overall program delivery and support physical part order.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the delivery of geometric data (CAD) that enables virtual build & testing activities (full product CAE).
  • Producing and managing a delivery plan for CAD, through engagement with component owners, that enables a continuum of virtual build & test operations.
  • Highlighting any issues and risks in the plan to virtual assessments utilising the appropriate escalation process. Ensuring these issues are adequately raised to the correct groups & tracking them into resolution.
  • Understanding CAD quality issues & aligning on a plan to resolve that supports the overall virtual build & test plan with component owners.
  • Tracking open test failures against components & align with component owners on resolution ahead of re-assessment virtually.
  • Reporting out on status at appropriate events, highlighting the key activities required to support Virtual test plans & highlighting open issues and their age to communicate risks & issues within a program.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident to communicate across all levels
  • Ability to create and manage complex project plans
  • Basic knowledge of automotive engineering content

Experience required:

  • Experience in managing a preassigned list of activities and delivering work based on a set priority.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders in person or virtually to gather valuable information and confirm details.
  • Ability to simplify information and clearly communicate to others, in person and through documentation in writing.
  • Experience and confidence working independently and as part of a team.
  • Can evidence examples of both solo and collaborative working.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive engineering content
  • Technically curious and confident in learning new skills.
  • Proficient in the use and application Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of whole vehicle automotive product design, systems or requirements.
  • Knowledge of CAD or Bill of Materials
  • Knowledge or experience in the delivery using Agile methodologies and Scrum would be beneficial.
