Position Description:
- Surface Contamination Engineer
- Our Client is looking to appoint a talented Engineer who has knowledge of vehicle fluid mechanics and experience of vehicle testing to support our Thermal and Aerodynamics team.
- This is an opportunity to take accountability for the delivery of, Aerodynamic, Aero-acoustic and Water and Dirt Management (WDM) requirements for all Client vehicle programmes.
- This opportunity is specifically focused on our Water and Dirt Management (WDM) chapter, which aims to protect Customer satisfaction and Automated Driving System vision in areas subjected to exterior aerodynamic flow and surface contamination from water & dirt.
- This role will aim to enhance the customer experience through the design, development, measurement and balance of customer attributes for the Clients' vehicles.

Skills Required:
- You will be a talented engineer (most likely in the field of water and dirt engineering; or acoustics, vehicle testing, thermal testing engineer or be a CFD Engineer)
- You will have experience of (physical) vehicle testing and knowledge of vehicle fluid mechanics
- This varied role requires a methodical and organised approach to undertaking technical work, coupled to a flexible customer-first mind-set to respond to issues as they arise
Experience Required:
- Previous experience of setting up, running and interpreting full vehicle or system level physical and/or virtual tests
- Experience of aerodynamic testing in a wind tunnel or track-based facility
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good team working skills, together with adaptability
- Self-motivated with the ability to carry out tasks un-supervised once defined
- The ability to analyse and present complex data
- Previous experience of problem solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving, Design of Experiments
- Good level of IT literacy including as a minimum excellent grasp of Microsoft Office tools and ideally data processing tools such as MatLab.
- Must have an enquiring mind, always searching for unique and innovative solutions to the benefit of the business
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
Experience Preferred:
- Previous experience of applying CFD tools to assess and develop Aerodynamic and WDM related technical requirements
- Aerodynamics or water and dirt management experience including experience of testing in wind tunnels or climatic test facilities
Additional Information:
- Minimum 2 days per week on site, 1 of which will be Wednesday
