Job description

Position Title: Art Director - Automotive HMI - UX/UI

Duration: Permanent

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Job Purpose

  • Manage and support multi-disciplinary team to create and deliver strong and engaging digital user interface and interaction, from the design and ideation phases till production release.
  • Managed and support the team to create storyboards, user need specifications, personas, use flow scenarios, information architecture, flowcharts, interactive mock-ups, design prototypes, design guidelines and specifications.
  • Coach, educate and inspire a world class design team to create fascinating interfaces, graphic assets and detailed screen layouts within ambitious and unique interior environment.
  • Strive for maximum creativity and efficiency.
  • Manage multiple tasks, monitor project progress and meet deadlines.
  • Harmonize business management, production technology and aesthetic specifications, establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.
  • Bringing consistency of visual language of the Clients' products while considering the specificity of automotive environment and the brand.

Key Accountabilities

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Guarantee best in class perceived quality, uniqueness, performance, HMI and brand strategy compliance.
  • Coach the Clients' way of thinking through brainstorming/concept development sessions.
  • Evaluate and participate in Product concept and strategy creation.
  • Participate in Design and Brand Strategy development and its implementation.
  • Play an active role in supporting the Clients' communication and in organizing and moderating workshops and presentations

Project Management

  • Manage and implement together with Director, design process, workloads, timing and resources planning.
  • Produce and share descriptive and exhaustive feedback report for the design team on their ongoing project.
  • Meet with other departments Management on a regular basis to guaranty synergy and common goals. "single team" mind-set
  • Attend program and engineering reviews as required and action next steps.
  • Keep a weekly updated overview of technical and design issues.
  • Build and maintains strong cross departmental partnerships through the creation process with interior advanced design, realization design, CMF, visualization, engineering and external software development teams.

Vendor Selection/Management

  • Organise meeting, workshops and brainstorming when necessary.
  • Keeping a good understanding and knowhow interaction.
  • Record and communicate meeting protocols and respond to specific requirement, guaranty a good project workflow.
  • Lead the project with the support of engineering and the multidisciplinary team.

People Management

  • Responsible for building design team and establishing open, honest, supportive and understanding design culture in team (talent acquisition, trainings, growth etc.)
  • Responsible to allocate Design resources within the projects to one best competence, building team self-confidence.
  • Responsible to plan activities for the HMI Design Team (workshop, brainstorming, cultural activities, team building activities)
  • Conduct performance reviews for team members
  • Taking care of studio environment, physical and interpersonal relations.
  • Be a role model, live the values and communicate the design pillars to other departments

Reporting

  • Prepare and attend project status overviews.
  • Roadmaps to define goals and milestone.
  • Create and define hypotheses, KPIs, and their measurements to conclude on the best next steps
  • Attend projects presentation to top management and actively participates in their preparation and the presentation itself.
  • Report functional status regularly and escalate critical issues to the Design Director as required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Interaction Design, User Experience, product design or related field

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent professional communication skills spoken & written
  • Project-management experience with an UI/UX focus from product creation to market launch.
  • Strong knowledge of user experience and interaction design processes and methodology.
  • Professional skills with tool like: Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign as well as motion graphic tools like AfterEffects.
  • Good proficiency in wire-framing tools to create interactive prototypes and animations (Principle, Invision, Framer, etc.)
  • Software development mind-set to be able to communicate smoothly with development (basics in HTML, CSS and JavaScript are a plus)
  • Analytical mind-set and organizational skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Minimum Experience:

  • 10+ years
  • EOM experience and/or start-up automotive design studio
  • 2 years Lead/management experience or related position
