Position Title: Body in White Design Engineer
Duration: Contract
Location: Hybrid, 1 day per week onsite in Woking, Surrey
Essential Criteria:
- 5+ years of automotive Catia V5 design experience
- Experience in designing BIW Composite panels
- Body structures experience
- Design and Release of Body systems
- Fluency in English.
Nice to Have Criteria:
- Previous Client experience
- Body manufacturing experience desirable
- Good understanding of GD&T
- Robust, proven feasibility assessment skills within APQP framework including DFMEA, DFA/DFM, DVP, component planning and PPAP
- Experience in lightweight body design and materials technology.
- CAD knowledge for assembly and part interrogation.
Additional Information:
- Contract, with occasional travel to site.
- CAD design and engineering of Body exterior panel systems
- Support cost and weight targets throughout the design process.
- Schedule design activities to meet engineering deliverables
- Support styling engagement to ensure delivery of feasible design solutions with regard to manufacturing, assembly and homologation
- Coordinate with Principal Engineers and Project Managers to ensure technical targets, program timings and budgetary requirements are met
- Liaise with the Prototype Workshop to provide feasible design solutions
- Support workshop activities pre, during and post-vehicle build
- Ensure designs meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements, and are formally verified to meet these and other specifications
- Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement
