As the automotive and mobility industries undergo unprecedented transformation, developing the engineers, designers, and innovators of tomorrow has never been more important. Demonstrating its continued commitment to nurturing emerging talent, Contechs recently welcomed three T-Level students from WMG Academy for an immersive four-week industry placement designed to provide first-hand experience of vehicle development in a professional engineering environment.
Working alongside Contechs specialists across multiple disciplines, the students undertook a challenging Concept Vehicle Design project, bringing together Body Engineering, Interior Engineering, and Electrical Systems through the application of the industry-standard V-Cycle development process.
From initial concept generation and technical documentation through to prototype build, validation, and testing, the placement provided invaluable exposure to the complexities of modern vehicle programmes.

A standout highlight of the placement was an exclusive visit to McLaren Automotive's world-renowned McLaren Technology Centre (MTC). Arvind, Noah, and Oliver (pictured left to right below) were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic facility, gaining insight into cutting-edge automotive engineering and exploring an impressive collection of McLaren vehicles past and present.

The placement forms part of Contechs' broader commitment to education and skills development. Beyond industry placements, Contechs Operations Director, Chris Innes, serves as a Governor at WMG Academy Coventry, helping to ensure students are equipped with the capabilities required to succeed in a rapidly evolving mobility landscape.
Contechs also continues to strengthen links between education and industry through initiatives such as the Contechs Design Award in partnership with Coventry University.
